Happy Valentine's Day!

In my last blog I said on Valentines Day I would post my top 10 most romantic songs (in my opinion), and I would write about a couple who I believe knows what love is really all about. Little did I know how hard it would be to do the second. Not because I couldn't figure out who to write about, but because this Valentines has been especially hard for my family and I. Recently, we found out that one of my best friends, my mentor and the person who has walked through my entire life with me has cancer - is it my Mom. This has broken my heart, but watching how she has been dealing with this has brought peace and hope to my heart as well. The two people that I was planning to write about was my Dad and Mom, and now I can see even more clearly how they have both shown me and taught me a lot about love. Mainly, they have showed me that love is all about sacrifice. Giving up something you value for the sake of someone else. I have seen them give up their time, their comforts, their conveniences, their agendas, their hopes, their money all to show others love. Even now as they are going through this hard time they continue to show love (instead of bitterness or self-pity). They continue to give of themselves to others. I know they would give all the credit to God! I only hope that I can love better because of them and through this hard time!
