Reasons why I love Seattle

I really do love living in Seattle! Even though I grew up near Portland...Seattle is feeling more and more like home. Here are just a few reasons why:

*The scenery - snow peaked mountains and Mt. Rainer! Oh my!
*Pudget Sound - beaches just a short drive a way!
*Coffee at every corner (even though I am trying to cut out coffee!). Yikes!
*Great parks (trust me we've been to almost all of them in the area).
*Lots of fun outdoor markets that sale fresh produce, flowers and homemade crafts.
*Even though it rains things are green year around (except our grass which isn't really grass but moss).
*Friends! I'm so grateful for the people I have met here in Seattle!

Recently we went downtown to see an African/Indian Musical performance, and visited the fountain near the Space Needle! What fun! As you can tell, the weather was FABULOUS!

Kitchen Chemistry 101

Today we did a little baking at home and learned that baking is chemistry because things are being mixed together to make something new. Only this "something new" we can actually eat and enjoy! Yummy! They did a great job and enjoyed the results. A great book that we read too was: "The Magic School Bus Gets Baked in a Cake (A book about kitchen chemistry). Here are some fun pictures:

Asha and her friend Diya made the actually cake part. Great mixing Asha!

Luke and Lana did the frosting (of course that comes with licking the beaters afterwards).

Time to frost! Everyone had a little section on the cake to decorate how they wanted.

The finished product! Blue, red, sprinkles, and strawberries! Should be a 4th of July cake!

Jeffrey had the best part...simply enjoying a piece of the cake (and then going on a massive sugar high). Oh boy!

Day in the Life....

I thought it would be fun to do a random day (or morning) in the life of the Hudson family. This was from this morning at 8:30. We have had a long week of sicknesses, so we are getting a bit stir crazy at home.

Jeffrey is walking around the house with his new Lightning McQueen backpack and his Bob the Builder hat. Looking for trouble or just someone to play with him.

Daddy got in a few minutes of monster truck bashing with Luke.

What is this? The girls are already getting their school work done. So studious!

What is Mom doing? Well.....she is still in her pjs, so no picture of her today! =)

Beach Pictures & Sea glass

A few weeks ago we were at the beach and Asha and I took some random fun pictures together. It was a "roll up your pants and dip your feet in the water" kind of day.

If you didn't already know, I love collecting and finding "sea glass" at our Seattle beaches. I looked up sea glass in the dictionary and this is what I found:

Sea glass (also known as beach glass, mermaid's tears, lucky tears, and many other names) is glass found on beaches along oceans or large lakes that has been tumbled and smoothed by the water and sand, creating small pieces of smooth, frosted glass.[1]

Sea glass is one of the very few cases of a valuable item being created from the actions of the environment on man-made litter.

COOL!!!!
