Pet ducks

This is rather random, but in the last few weeks I have seen several people with pet ducks. I have only lived in this area for about two years, so I'm curious if this is a normal thing. I have never seen this before! I saw one lady taking her duck shopping. The duck was in the shopping cart sitting on a blanket. Interesting! The other lady had her pet duck at the beach. The duck followed her wherever she went, and didn't even try to take a swim in the water. Wow! Is it hard to train a duck? What is it like to have a duck as a pet? Do they snuggle up on the couch with you or sleep on the end of your bed. This is very intriguing to me! Maybe Matt would be for getting a duck! Ha Ha! Seriously though, we already have a little pond in our back yard.
